We still have three more events left at Mid America in 2010. We have spent over forty hours working on the track since our last race, and the track continues to improve at each event. Our next two events are this Saturday, October 9th, and the following Saturday October 16th. As always, practice starts at 4:00 and the first heat blasts off at 6:00. The weather forecast for this Saturday is calling for a high of 75 degrees which should make for some great riding weather. Even though it is cooling off in the evenings, the staff has done an excellent job of keeping the program moving. Our last event was over at 8:45, and the latest that any of our 2010 events has finished was 9:30pm.

As some of you may be aware, pro rider Ken Maynard #13j and his family lost their home due to a fire just before the Labor Day holiday. As a show of support for Ken, Mid-America and IFTA will be hosting “Ken Maynard Appreciation Day” on Sunday, October 17th from noon to six pm. All proceeds from this day will be donated to Ken and his family. Practice is $15 per person, or $25 for two siblings.

Our final event of 2010 will be on Saturday, October 30th. We would like to encourage everyone to hang Halloween decorations in their pit, and provide some candy so the youth riders can go Trick or Treating when they are not riding. We are also open to ideas on some type of fun race as long as it can be done safely, and be completed in 10-12 minutes.

We hope to have our 2011 schedule done by mid-December. We do not anticipate any major changes to the schedule next year. Racing will start in June, and run through October, and we will have 10 to 12 race dates. We do know that we will be having our fourth annual Marion County Fair Race near the end of July, and an event on Friday, August 27th which is the night before the Indy Mile. The 2011 event will feature speedway bikes and one or two classes of vintage flat track.

See you at the races!

Thanks to everybody that came out for our September 25th race. It was nice to see so many riders attending Mid-Americafor the first time, and all of them said that they had a great time. Rider counts continue to improve at each event, and we make every attempt possible to improve the track and overall program. Overall, each event is running smoother than the prior event, and last night’s racing was completed in two hours and forty-five minutes. We are headed back out to the track this afternoon to do some more grading so that the track is even better for the last three events of 2010.

We have events scheduled for October 9th, 16th, and 30th. A few riders said that they had heard that we had cancelled the last three events. This was a surprise to us, and we will definitely be racing on these nights.

There will be an open practice this Wednesday, September 29th from 6pm-9pm. If you have not ridden flat track or speedway and would like to give it a try, contact us and we can arrange to have a bike available to try on a practice night.

Mid-America Speedway News

While, most tracks are starting to wind down their 2010 series, Mid-America has just passed the halfway point of the 2010 season. We still have races scheduled for September 11th and 25th, and then on October 9th, 16th, and 30th. The September 11th event is paying $100 to win the Heavy Vintage class and $75 to the bike owner (must be over 16 years of age) in the 85cc class, courtesy of Wicked Motorsports in Brownsburg , IN.

Practice is at 4:00, and racing starts promptly at 6:00.

Every piece of feedback that we have received about the track this year has been very positive. From the start of the first heat, to the end of the last main our longest event was completed in just over 3½ hours. The track continues to get better for each event, and the track surface received a major rebuild over the Labor Day weekend which should provide for more racing lines and less maintenance throughout the night.

Indiana weather is typically quite mild in September and October, and as the days get shorter, and the nights cool off, the moisture comes up and the riders and spectators are treated to some great racing action. Please come out and join us before the 2010 season is over. We are sure that you will come back.

Subject: Mid-America June 19th event rescheduled for Sunday, June 20th

Mid America Motorcycle Speedway <info@midamspeedway.com>
Mon, June 14, 2010 5:30:28 PM

AMA Pro Racing has rescheduled the Gas City event that was rained out on June 5th for Saturday, June 19th.  This was also the date of the first Mid-America/IFTA event of 2010.  We know that many of our spectators, riders and volunteers were faced with a difficult choice when they heard the news of the conflicting dates.  With this said, we have made the decision to move our first race to Sunday, June 20th.  Practice will start at noon, and we will start racing as soon as practice is over and the final track prep is done.   Those of you that travel a long distance to attend our events should be able to be on your way home by 6:30.

Thank you

Mid-America Practice rescheduled and June 19th race reminder

The race at Bunker Hill that was rained out on June 6th has been rescheduled for June 13.  This being the case, we are moving our practice that was scheduled for June 13th to Saturday, June 12th.  We will start at 4:00 and run until 9:00pm.  Many of you have had very few, if any chances to ride this year and moving the practice to Saturday should allow everyone a chance to get some seat time prior to the first race.  Practice will be $15 per rider or $25 for two immediate family members.

Our first race will be on Saturday, June 19th.  This is an IFTA points paying event.  All of our 2010 Saturday night events will observe the following schedule:

Signup 2:00

Practice @ 4:00

Racing will start promptly at 6:00pm

We will do everything possible to place the youth heats at the beginning of the program, and then run the youth mains after intermission before the adult mains.  There will be times that an adult heat or main will be run before a youth heat/main, but it will only be done so that riders do not have back to back races and to keep the program moving along.  We are also going to schedule track maintenance and watering into the race order at the beginning of the night.  This should prevent riders from having to make last minute setup changes due to the track be watered just prior to their race.

We would like to take a minute to ask that all riders pit area inside the fenced in area adjacent to turns three and four, rather that pitting along the access road leading to the pits.  This will create a safer facility for everybody while keeping our insurance company happy.  Because the youth and adult classes will no longer be split into an afternoon and evening program, the congestion at the pit gate should be reduced as everybody will be arriving at roughly the same time.  We are aware that it may be crowded but we spend a considerable amount of time tracking folks down not knowing if they are inside the pit area, or parked along the access road to the pits.  It also ensures that everybody entering the pits has signed the release form.

There is a new phone number to call or text us at, which is 317.871.4392.  This number is also posted on the image at the top of each page on our website.

Good luck in 2010, and we will see you at the races.

2010 Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway

The 2010 Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway season is still a few weeks from starting, but we wanted to get a note out to everybody as the first race date will be here before you know it.

We are evaluating our relationship with the AMA and want to how you the fans, riders, and sponsors feel about us being an AMA sanctioned track, and would you support us if we did not run under an AMA sanction in 2010. Please drop us a note and let us how you feel.

Changes for 2010:

START TIMES:
In the past there was some confusion over the start time of our events. For 2010 all of the Saturday events, including IFTA point nights will start at the following times:
Signup opens: 3:00, Practice: 4:00, Racing starts: 6:00

We will make every attempt to run the youth heats, followed by adult heats, semis, and then a short intermission. After the intermission we will run the youth mains, then the adult mains. There will be times where an adult class will run before a youth class, but this will be kept to a minimum and only be done to prevent riders from having back to back rides. By having everybody start at the same time, everybody should be able to park inside the pit area and reduce congestion in the staging area.

CLASSES:
We will be running the same class structure as IFTA. For a complete listing of classes, go to: www.indianaflattrack.comSome of the changes this year are that the Dirt Diva class is now open to air and water cooled motorcycles up to 200cc with a 12 year old minimum age. The minimum age for the Mad Dog class has been lowered to 15 years old. The maximum displacement for this class is now 160cc, and water cooled machines are no longer permitted. The number of Adult Quad classes has increased from two to three. The new classes are: Adult 0-400cc, Adult 401-450cc, and Adult Quad Open 251cc and up. This should allow almost every quad rider to sign up for two different classes. The youth Quad classes have been broke into three classes: Youth 6-15, 0-90 two stroke, and 0-125cc four stroke. The 4-6 50cc chain, and 7-8 50cc class has been combined into a 50cc 4-8 year old class.

PRACTICE DAYS:
Our first practice will be on Sunday, June 13th. After that, practice days will be on Wednesday’s. Please note that we will not have practice if we are having a race on the upcoming Saturday. This will allow us more time to prepare the track for race nights. Practice is still $15 per person, or $25 for a parent/child, or two youth riders.

Thank you

2010 Mid America Schedule is posted! March 14, 2010

2 0 0 9 Central News

Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway

The final race of the 2009 Mid America Speedway season will be held his Sunday, November, 1st.  Practice will start at 12:00, and racing will start at 2:00pm.  The weather this season has forced us to cancel nearly half of our races this year, so don’t miss out on this chance to ride one last time before the season is over.

The economy has made this a difficult season for all of our riders, sponsors, and spectators.  We have not been immune from the issues that everybody is facing as witnessed by decreased rider and spectator counts this year.  Please show your support and try to attend this final event of 2009.  While you are at it, try to bring a new face to the races, and introduce them to the exciting sport of flat track racing

We have already had several folks ask about our 2010 schedule.  We hope to have the schedule out by mid-December.  As in years past, we are going to work with the other Indiana , Ohio , and Illinois tracks, and the AMA Pro Flat track schedule.  We do know that we will have our fair race on Saturday, July 24th, and the 2010 Midwest Speedway Championships and Quad Invitational on Friday, August 27th.

There will not be any more practice sessions in 2009.  Practice will resume in May of 2009.  Once the weather breaks and the track is ready we will post practice dates at www.midamspeedway.com

See you at the races!

Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway

Once again Mother Nature has thrown a wrench in our spokes. We are going to have to cancel the October 17th event at Mid America Speedway due to the amount of rain that we received this week.

Our next event is Sunday, November 1st. Practice will start at noon, and racing will start at 2:00pm.

There will not be a practice this Wednesday, October 21st. We are considering doing a practice on Saturday, October 24th. We would ride from 11a-4pm. If you are interested in attending, please drop us a note, and if we get enough response we will have the practice. Either way, we will post something on the website next Friday evening.

As of the time of this e-mail, Bunker Hill is still on for Sunday, October 18th.

See you at the races!

Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway

This has been a brutal race season at Mid America Motorcycle Speedway. Once again the rain that we received over the past few days has forced us to cancel the October 10th event. Our next race is October 17th. Practice will start at 4:00 and we will race at 6:00. The event that was scheduled for October 31st has been moved to Sunday, November 1st. Practice will start at noon, and racing will start after practice and any necessary track maintenance. There will also be open practices on October 14th, 21st, and 28th.

During the rider’s meeting at the last event, we had to announce a change to the way rider payout is handled. Starting with the October 17th event the Open Quad, 450, Open Bike and Speedway classes will pay back 75% of the entry fees that are collected for that class. All other adult classes will compete for trophies. We want everybody to understand that this was a very difficult decision to make, but in light of the current economy our choices were to either raise entry fees, or to reduce payout if we were to continue to race at the Marion County Fairgrounds. We hope that every one understands the position that we are in and continues to support the track.

Sincerely,

The staff of Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway

This is reminder that Mid America Motorcycle Speedway will be racing this Saturday, October 3rd. Practice for all classes will begin at 4:00 and racing will begin at 6:00. We have spent the last two weeks preparing the track for these last few races. All of the riders that made it to our practice this past Wednesday felt the track was smooth and offered plenty of traction.

We also have event on October 10th. This will be an Indiana Flat Track Association event. Youth classes will practice at 2:00 and race right after practice. Adult classes will practice at 4:00 and race at 7:00. If practice is completed early, and the track is ready to go, we will most likely start the heats early.

October 17th is our next to last race of the season, and is a Mid-America points night. Practice for all classes will begin at 4:00 and racing will begin at 6:00.

We had scheduled an event for October 31st, not realizing that this was Halloween. We are going to move this event from Saturday, October 31st, to November 1st. This is the final race of the Mid-America points series, and the final race of the year at Mid-America. Practice will start at noon, and racing will start after practice.

We need to ask for the support of all of the riders and spectators that support flat track racing in Indiana . This has been a brutal year on us. Between the economy and the rain outs we need as many people to attend these last few events. It is also a good time to introduce some new riders and spectators to this sport.

See you at the races!

Mid-America postponed to October 3rd

We are going to have to post phone tonight’s race to next Saturday, October 3rd due to all of the rain that we received this week. Practice will start at 4:00 and racing will start at 6:00. There will be a practice starting at 12:30 tomorrow.

Last week’s races were some of the best of the year, with Ricky Leak winning both the Open and 450cc classes. Ken Maynard finished on the podium in three classes. Nathan Siegel won the Open Quad class after spending most the summer in England riding speedway, and BJ Fesselmeyer took home his first ever main event win in the Speedway class. The youth classes provided plenty of excitement with Kevin Stollings Jr. and Danny Dotson Jr. making the adult riders fearing the day that they move up to the big bikes. A big thank you goes out to all of the riders and IFTA members that kept the program moving. We ran all of the practice sessions, heats, and main events in just under six hours.

The next race at Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway is this Saturday, September 26th. All classes will practice at 4:00 and racing will start at 6:00. This will be the third event in the Mid-America point’s series. Many of the classes are still up for grabs so don’t miss out on this opportunity to earn some points before the season is over.

The economy has been tough on everybody this year, and Mid-America is no different as we have experienced decreased spectator attendance, rider counts, sponsorship, and five events cancelled due to rain. We would like to challenge each rider to bring two new people to each of the next four races.

See you at the races!

Update from Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway

Information sent out on Monday incorrectly indicated that the Marion County Fair race that is going to be held on July 25th would be an Indiana Flat Track Association points paying event. July 25th will pay points toward the Mid-America series, and not IFTA. Gates will open at 2:00pm, and practice will begin at 4:00 with racing starting at 6:00.

We are also going to have to move the August 1st event to August 15th due to a scheduling conflict. When the 2009 schedule was put out, we inadvertently scheduled a race for the same day that a demolition derby will be taking place on the infield giving us no choice but to reschedule. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused, but in this case we had little choice but to reschedule. This will be a Mid-America points paying race with all classes practicing at 4:00 and racing at 6:00

Our Sport Bike night which was rained out on July 11th has been rescheduled for August 8th. This is an IFTA points paying event, so the youth classes will practice at 2:00, and race at 3:00. The adult classes will practice at 5:00 and race at 7:00. The owner of the nicest sport bike will receive $100 cash.

The weather is just not giving us any breaks this year, and the July 11th even was cancelled due to all of the rain that we received. The track was in near perfect shape on Saturday morning, and then the rain started coming down. Even though it stopped raining several times, we had to make the difficult decision to cancel the event. Perhaps the most disappointed rider was Chris Hesmer who made a nearly 600 mile trip from Brantford , Ontario, Canada only to see the front straight resembling a small lake than a race track.

The lineup for the August 28th Midwest Speedway Championship and Quad Invitational is shaping up nicely. We currently have commitments from riders from Argentina, England, Scotland, Poland, Canada, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio. This is sure to be a great night to come out and see some of the best speedway and quad riders ever assembled in the Midwest, on the largest regularly run speedway track in the US. Tickets will be $20 each on this night, and will be available in advance. Please remember that all riders must pre-enter. Quad riders, if you are interested in entering this event please send in your letter of intent. More information and a link to the letter of intent can be found at:

midamspeedway.com

Upcoming Events:
7/22/09: Open Practice from 6:00-9:00
7/25/09: Marion County Fair Race: Practice at 4:00, Racing at 6:00
8/08/09: Sport Bike night/IFTA Points Race: Youth classes will practice at 2:00, and race at 3:00. Adult classes will practice at 5:00, race at 7:00.
8/15/09: Mid-America points race: All classes practice at 4:00 and racing begins at 6:00
8/28/09: Midwest Speedway Championship and Quad Invitational

See you at the races!

Midwest Speedway Championships

The Midwest Speedway Championships which will be held on Friday, August 28th which is the same weekend as the Indianapolis MotoGP. We will be putting out a rider list soon, but we have riders from England, Scotland, Canada, Poland, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois, and Indiana already committed, with several other riders just waiting for get their entry in. This will surely be the biggest speedway event to take place in the Midwest in 30+ years.

Update from Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway

We wanted to send out a note to thank everybody that attended the June 13th event. The weather was a concern the entire day, yet somehow we were able to complete the event with only one weather delay. Hopefully as we move further into summer and onto our next event on July 11th we will be able to have an event where rain is not in the forecast. We also want to thank the Christian Motorcyclists Association for helping with the flagging and pit gate duties at our last two races. They are a great group of people and make the events run smoother for everybody.

We want to remind everybody that our July 11th event is Sport bike night at Mid-America Speedway. The winner of the nicest sport-bike will receive $100. The best part is that everybody that rides in and purchases a grandstand ticket is automatically entered. We will have a designated parking area underneath the grandstand area for all motorcycles and the winner of the $100 will be announced during the intermission just before the heats begin. What could be better than coming out and watching some great racing and taking home $100? Please note that we have added some classes to the Mid-America class structure and we are going to move the start time up one hour. Gates will open at 2:00, practice for all classes will start at 4:00, and racing will start at 6:00.

Practice on Wednesday, June 17th has been cancelled due to all of the rain that we received on Tuesday. We will be holding practices on Saturday, June 20th, and Saturday June 27th from 4:00pm until 9:00pm.

See you at the races!

Mid-America Speedway Race and Practice updates

Monday June 8, 2009

Our second event of 2009 is this Saturday, June 13th. This is an Indiana Flat Track Association (IFTA) points paying event. Gates open at noon, with youth classes practicing at 2:00 and racing at 3:00. Adult classes will practice at 5:00 and race at 7:00.

The following event is July 11th event is sport bike night. We will have a designated area underneath the grandstands for all motorcycles, and the owner of the nicest sport bike will receive $100. This is a Mid-America points paying event. Gates will open at 3:00, and practice for all classes will begin at 5:00.

There will not be a practice this Wednesday, June 10th, but we will have one on Wednesday, June 17th from 6pm until 9pm. The current weather forecast is calling for rain, and we feel that this will allow us to provide a better track for this weekend’s event. 2009 Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway

The 2009 Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway season kicked off on May 30th with over 135 entries.

Unfortunately, it began to rain as soon as the heat races were completed, and final results were determined by each riders heat finish. We wanted to thank everybody that attended, and hope that you will return for next event which will be on Saturday, June 13th event. This will be an Indiana Flat Track Association (IFTA) points paying event. Gates will open at noon, with youth classes practicing at 2:00, and racing at 3:00. Adult classes will practice at 5:00 and race at 7:00.

We are going to have to cancel the practice that was scheduled for this Wednesday, June 3rd due to the amount of rain that hit central Indiana this afternoon. The good news is that we are going to have an open practice on Saturday, June 6th, from 4:00pm until 9:00pm.

2009 Midwest Speedway

The start of the 2009 Mid-America Speedway season is just a few days away. We will be holding an open practice this Saturday, May 2nd, and then again on again on May 9th. In the event that either day would get rained out, we will use May 3rd, and May 10th as make up days. Practice starts at 2:00pm and is $15 per rider. We will keep the gates open as long as there are riders willing to ride, or up until our 11:00pm curfew.

The first race of the season is May 16th. Gates will open at 2:00pm, practice will begin at 5:00pm, and racing will start at 7:00pm. AMA memberships are required, and will be available at all practice and race days. We encourage all riders regardless of age to fill out a 2009 Annual Release Form. This is part of the Indy Mile and MotoGP weekend when the eyes of all motorcycle fans will be on Indianapolis. We are still working out the total purse, but we are guaranteeing $1000 to win with a minimum of a $5000 purse. Supplemental rules, and the Letter of Intent has been posted on our web site, Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway. The link is: General Information.

There is no entry fee for this event, but we are requiring a $100 deposit which holds your spot in the lineup. This money plus your winnings will be refunded at the conclusion of the nights racing.
