In reply to Mark:
Yes, it's true. Paul rode over the weekend and finished 4th in the A
final, as shown below. There have been lots of instances this year
where riders are fit to ride in one meeting but not another (eg the GPs)
and it seem to be increasing - if they have asked for a day off then
should the R/R facility be allowed?
Cheers
Karl

It was not just 'a longtrack meeting'. It was the first round of the World
Championchip and he finished fourth overall. I spoke to him and he
had a lot of pain in his shoulder (cut or damaged ligaments) and two
broken ribs. Its currently much easier for him to ride on a longtrack than
on the speedway. Kelvin Tatum who has won the meeting is still suffering
from his crash last year (broken hip). He is able to ride on the longtrack
but not speedway as you need a lot of power in your leg.

Subject: Rory is ready
Date: Tue, 25 Jul 2000 07:34:36 +1000
Rory Schlein - who turns 16 in just over one month - will
make his debut on a 500cc machine in Adelaide this coming
summer after winning the recent Australian Junior Championship in Darwin.
With an outstanding pedigree behind him (his father Lyndon was a top line
sidecar rider in the 1980s), Rory will travel with his parents to England in
March next year.
Schlein has been having talks with a U.K team as he has British ancestry and
the young man is looking to a bright start.
"I am really lucky. I'm going to give it my best shot as I love speedway,
the racing and the people you meet. Mum and Dad have given me the best
opportunity to do what I love, so it's all up to me now."
The young teenager hopes to follow in the wheel tracks of form
