Buxton will be kicking themselves for not winning this with the Fen
Tigers, using r/r for Steve Camden, also without flu victim Paul
Lydes-Uings.
The crunch came in heat 14 with the sides level at 42-42. Buxton team
manager Jack Lee gambled by pulling out Neil Painter (saving his seventh
and final ride for heat 15) and replacing him with Phil Pickering.
The Fen Tigers pairing of Knowles and Hedge picked up a 5-1 and Lee's
gamble had failed, a fact fully confirmed whenColvin and Evans romped to
another maximum in heat 15.

Alessandro Milesene was injured in the grass track meeting at meslung today.
If there is any maber of the list who was there please give us some details
of the crash.
He has probably brocken his hip, so he probably faces an operation already

Robert Barth was the best rider on show as he won all 5 of his rides.
Kelvin Tatum had a nightmare with 2 engine failures, one whilst leading the
B-Final. Kenneth Borgenhaug was taken to hospital with a suspected broken
leg after crashing in the C-Final.
The racing was reasonable in the main event, but very closely contested in
the support U21 solos and 1000cc sidecars. The crowd seemed a bit down
compared to previous events on this former RAF airfield, but maybe the
threat of rain kept people away.
