Surprisingly this match produced quite an easy victory for the =
Wightlink Islanders who provided 13 of the 15 heat winners in the =
process.
Ray Morton collected another five ride paid maximum although he did =
have a spot of good fortune in so doing.
Paul Bentley led from the start in the last heat from Adam Shields =
and Mort.
Shields, scenting the possibility of a first ever full house score =
tried a big 'un dive around the outside on the fourth bend of the =
second lap and simply ran out of room crashing into the boards.
Morton, given a second chance in the re-run made no mistake.
All in all a fine all round performance from the Islanders roared on =
by annother bigf holiday crowd.
Berwick were a tad disappointing never really threatening the home =
side although Scott Smith's efforts were well rewarded with a paid 13 =
haul.
Mogridge and Bentley looked a little jaded given their previous =
showings at Smallbrook.

Poole were more than a little fortuitous to catch Jason Lyons on a night of
personal disaster. Two shed chains plus a fall when it looked as though he
was trying to avoid a slowing Gunnestad cost the Australian and the Aces
dear, but the Poole side deserve some credit for digging their heels in and
playing their part well in an entertaining, keenly contested affair.
Laukkanen was in good form for the Aces whilst Loram and Nicholls were
flying - some justice perhaps that both their maximums were ruined by
Lyons! Havelock on Sean Wilson's motors had three good rides but also ran a
poor last, whilst Watson and Gunnestad both invested plenty of effort, but
for the second time this year it was the services of guest Jesper Olsen who
did the real damage.
