Ryan Fisher brought Costa Mesa's 39th season to a close with double main event victories at the Mission Motorsports Fall Classic.
Buck Blair was on the pole in the Scratch Main and got the best start. Blair found too much traction in turn two and lifted into Jimmy Fishback and cause both riders to slow down. Fisher squeezed past both riders on the outside and beat Shawn McConnell to turn three to take the lead. Behind him Fishback took down Blair, but the race was allowed to continue. Fisher cruised to the victory, McConnell finished second, Tommy Hedden was third, Fishback finished fourth, and Blair was fifth.
Michael Hull led the Handicap Main, but had Fishback breathing down his neck. Fishback gave up second to Fisher who turned up the heat on Hull. Hull was composed until the final corner when he drifted a little wide. Fisher jumped through the opening on the inside to steal the win while Fishback snuck in for second as well. Hull had to settle for third, Hedden finished fourth, and Ricky Wells was fifth.
Philip Harmatiuk led all four laps to win the Support Main Event. Ryan Tovatt finished second, Rudy Laurer was third, and John Marquez finished fourth.
Doug Geist led the Support B Main Event for a lap before Scott York went by. York led the rest of the way for his second Costa Mesa main event win of the season. Geist finished second, Aimiris Santana was third, Brad Moreau finished fourth, Fred Remington was fifth, and J.C. Masters was sixth.
Braydan Galvin was victorious in the Youth Main Event. Chad Hoyt finished second, Rocco Scopellite was third, and Major Davis finished fourth.
International Speedway released tentative schedule for 2008. The 40th season of speedway at Costa Mesa will begin with the Spring Classic on Saturday, May 3 and will include 16 speedway meetings.
