For those who say Bobby "Boogaloo" Schwartz is to old, ya right. Tonight was
his last night as a 39 year old boy. Saturday he turns a big FOUR
ZERO. yet he is still one to watch out for on our tiny little oval.
Tonight seemed to be lacking some of that energy in the crowd. it
was kind of a small crowd. We did however get to see the grudge
race of the year. For you old timers you will remember, for you
not so old timers let me set the stage. In turn one is a big man.
A very big man with a very big belly. He tends to drink maybe one
or two extra Coors Lights. He is known as Gene the dancin' machine.
During a track drag he will walk the wall and do his dance and
yell "MORE BEEEER" Of course the crown chants this back and its
great fun. In the old days Gene would get out on the track and
race the drag truck, on foot. Finally the promoter put an end
to this because Gene was not an AMA member and could not be on
the track. Well tonight we had THE RE-MATCH. What a race Gene
got the gate, He ran wide in turn one but pulled out in front.
On the back stretch the Toyota pulled even, Gene cut low in
Three and forced the truck wide. Gene extended his lead and won
by over one full belly. OK on with the real racing.
