These are some photos I took during my trip to Bonneville from Sep 19 - Sep 24, 2010. I took two cameras and some photos are from a small digital camera. My other camera is a Minolta 7000 that I have used for years but semi retired it because of the digital one. Since I have not used the Minolta for a long time, I forgot to mark each roll as I took the photos so I am not sure what day of the week some are from. So I just labeled them Film 1-5. |
I would like to say thank you to a few people for making this trip a success and a reality. First of course is my wonderful wife Nancy who said, "you have to go, you can not miss Rocky's run." Also to Rocky Robinson for inviting me. I have tried for many years to watch the Rock run and I finally made it. Thanks to the Ack Attack team owner Mike Akatiff for allowing me in the pits and to hang around, and to his pit crew for tolerating my presence. RC Jones |

The Top 1 Ack Attack team earned the world record back by recording a run of 376.363 mph, shattering the previous record of 367.382 set by Chris Carr on the BUB Streamliner at the Cook’s Shootout in 2009. Carr’s record broke Robinson’s old mark of 360.913 mph set in 2008. In setting the new world record, the Top 1 Ack Attack team exited the 11-mile course traveling at a sizzling 394 mph – just shy of the magical 400 mph barrier. [Well ok it was really 12 miles but what the heck.] |
