Bryan Yarrow

Bryan Yarrow topped off a perfect night with a victory in the Scratch Main Event at Wild West Arena in Winchester on Saturday.

Yarrow's perfect score afforded him the opportunity to select his gate first. After some deliberation, he selected the pole. Chris Kerr, making his first appearance at the track, chose gate two. Nate Perkins picked gate three and that left Denny Scopellite with the outside.

Yarrow was first to leave the line at the start and Perkins followed him into turn one. Yarrow was on the precious inside groove and immediately put distance between himself and the field. Perkins drifted wide coming out of turn two which allowed Kerr to blast up the inside for second. Kerr went after Yarrow, but the former Youth National Champion was long gone. Yarrow cruised to his first Wild West Scratch Main victory, with Kerr coming in second, Perkins was third, and Scopellite finished fourth.

The first round of qualifying heats was dominated by the visitors from Northern California as Yarrow was victorious in the first race and Kerr was the winner of the second. Perkins held off Scopellite to take a victory in the first race of the second round and Yarrow defeated Kerr in their showdown in the other race. Yarrow began the final round by keeping his perfect score in tact and Kerr defeated Buck Blair to win the final qualifying heat. Blair was victorious in the Scratch Consolation after a final-corner pass on Steve Murray left the latter in a heap in turn three. Rich Brock was second, Jon Stasiefski finished third, and Murray was credited with fourth.

Five riders lined up for the Second Division Main Event with Brian Starr beating his four competitors to turn one. Starr held the lead on the back straight while Dale Facchini emerged from the pack in second with his hopes set on the lead. Starr had other ideas, though, and put together four solid laps to take home the trophy. Facchini was second, Kim Stevens finished third, Mark Baldwin was fourth, and Rohn Zellner finished fifth.

The Third Division Main Event turned out to be a match race that saw Damon Barry defeat Jim Lavender to get the win. Jason Ramirez was victorious in the Youth Main Event after first starting from 40, then being penalized 20 more yards after causing a restart. Austin Novratil finished second and Dylan Black was third. Braydan Galvin made a brilliant pass to grab the victory in the Youth Main Event. Dakota Bauman was second, Rocco Scopellite finished third, Sean McDonald was fourth, and Sammy Ramirez finished fifth.
