Sidecar Night
May 25, 2005 - Industry Hills Speedway
By: Ryan Evans

Buck Blair

Colorado native Buck Blair took home his first main event win in just his second meeting of the season at The Grand in Industry Hills.

Blair drew the inside starting position and jumped into the lead ahead of Shawn McConnell when the tapes went up. Blair locked himself onto the inside line as McConnell tried to pressure him into a mistake. Blair stretched his lead throughout the first three laps and was awarded the victory when fourth-placed Dario Galvin lifted in turn two on the final lap and took down Charlie Venegas. McConnell finished second, Venegas was third, and Galvin was credited with fourth.

Venegas began the evening by taking the opening heat. Ryan Fisher ran away with the next race. Blair held off Robbie Sauer for his first victory. McConnell closed out the first round by defeating Denny Scopellite.

Scopellite began round two with a win. Fisher made it two for two with a win over Brad Sauer. Shaun Harmatiuk ran away with race 14. Galvin finished the second round with a win over Nate Perkins.

The final round began with McConnell and Fisher engaged in a battle that eventually was won by McConnell. Venegas defeated Perkins for his second win of the night. Event 25 was an epic three-rider battle between Brian Starr, Neil Facchini, and Blair with several lead changes before Blair secured the victory and a standing ovation. Galvin's second victory brought a conclusion to the heats.

McConnell and Venegas cruised to first and second, respectively, in the first semi to earn spots in the main. Fisher was leading the second semi when he began to spin around in turn one. His valiant effort to recover caused a tank-slapper before going off the highside. The result was a broken fibula for Fisher. Blair won the restart with Galvin following him into the main.

Mark Baldwin was the early leader in the Second Division Main, but Michael Hernandez challenged, then passed him on the second lap. Hernandez went down on the next lap and brought out the red flag. The referee awarded the victory to Baldwin, second went to Rudy Laurer, third was Eloy Medellin, and Hernandez was designated fourth.

Mark Sincavage put together four smooth laps and won the Third Division Main for the second straight week. Vince Giamformaggio was second, Mark Skeels finished third, and Steve Dziadus was fourth.

A crash in the heats eliminated three youth riders, leaving just three to compete in the main. Austin Novratil was victorious with Joey Holt in second and newcomer Russell Green finishing third. Dominic Manzares won the Pee Wee Main with Jordan Bennett coming in second and Rocco Scopellite in third.
