Laidlaw's Harley Davidson Night
June 28, 2006 - Industry Speedway
By: Ryan Evans

Tommy Hedden ended one winning streak and began one of his own with a clean sweep which included a victory in the First Division Main Event on Laidlaw's Harley Davidson Night at Industry Hills Speedway.

Charlie "The Edge" Venegas entered the main with a fourteen-race winning streak that included the last two main events. Venegas drew the pole and used it to take the lead entering turn one. Venegas held the lead on the first lap, but Hedden switched his attack to the outside in turn one of the second lap and made a big run that put him alongside the leader on the back straight. Hedden pulled ahead as they entered turn three and stayed wide before dropping in front of Venegas on lap three. Hedden showed that he was equally adept at riding the inside as he held off Venegas the rest of the way for the victory. Buck Blair was third and Eddie Castro finished fourth.

The first of three rounds began with Bryan Yarrow getting an easy win. Hedden gave a glimpse of his entire evening with a victory. After a restart, Shawn McConnell was victorious in the next race. Blair scored his first victory by beating Skyler Greyson. Venegas ended round one with his first win.

Castro beat McConnell to start round two. Venegas made it two for two by beating Mark Adams. Hedden used the outside to pass Yarrow on lap two and score his second straight win. Blair kept pace with Venegas and Hedden with his second win. Josh Larsen, on his first night back, ended the second round with a victory.

Venegas began the final round with a win over Castro. McConnell earned his second win by beating Greyson. Larsen made it two in a row with an easy win in event 27. Yarrow ran away with his second victory in the next race. Hedden closed out the heats with his third victory in as many races.

Hedden got the gate in the first semi and won his fourth straight race, but there was a lot of action behind him. Larsen used the outside to pass McConnell on the second lap and seemed to have his place in the main booked before Castro went to the cushion on the final lap to take over second on the back straight and take the other transfer to the main. The other semi was a Venegas runaway with Blair holding off Yarrow to get to the main event. McConnell was victorious in the Consolation.

Billy Braden got the start in the Second Division Main Event and put together four smooth laps to take home the victory. Rudy Laurer finished second, Eloy Medellin was third, and Rohn Zellner finished fourth.

Kim Stevens was first off the line when the tapes went up and led all the way for her first Third Division Main Event win of the season. Steve Bowen finished second, Ron Mongenel was third, and Jamie Myers finished fourth.

Krystal Cramer used the outside to pass Joey Holt on the final lap to remain the only main event winner in Youth First Division. Gino Manzares finished third.

Rocco Scopellite led all four laps to win the Youth Second Division Main Event on his first night at Industry Hills as a youth rider. Russell Green finished second and Trevor Sargent was third.

Braydan Galvin came from the back to win the Pee Wee Main Event. Kolby Hedden finished second, Emalee Pappalardo was third, and Jack Higginson finished fourth.

There won't be racing at Industry Hills Speedway this coming Wednesday. The next event will be Saturday, July 8 and will be followed the following Saturday, July 15 with the California State Championship. There will be practice at Industry Hills this Sunday, July 2 from noon to four.
