July 29, 2009 - Industry Speedway
By: Ryan Evans

Gary Hicks returned showed everyone that he has regained his top form by winning the Industry Speedway Main Event for the fourth time this season.

National Champion Billy “The Kid” Janniro started in gate one and entered the main event undefeated and the prohibitive favorite to win. Hicks had other plans, however, and covered the field from gate four and led into turn one. Janniro quickly tried to attack Hicks, but his efforts couldn’t faze him. Janniro desperately went to the outside, but he lost ground to the leader and found himself under attack from behind. Hicks lengthened his lead while Janniro started losing positions. Hicks cruised to the victory, Jimmy Fishback finished second, Mike Faria was third, Janniro ended up fourth, and Shawn McConnell finished fifth.

Tommy Hedden made a great move to steal the victory in heat one from McConnell at the finish line. Charlie “The Edge” Venegas was victorious over Faria in the second heat. Janniro beat Fishback to end round one.

The earned-hanciap rounds started with Janniro making a fantastic charge through the field to win from 40 yards back. Hicks won the next heat for his first win. Russell Green led all four laps to end the round with a win.

Venegas began the final round with an easy wire-to-wire victory. Janniro stormed through the field from the back again to take his third straight victory. Faria ended the heats with his first win.

Faria and Hicks finished one-two in the first semi to book their places in the main event. Janniro was victorious in the second semi with McConnell following him into the main. Fishback won the Last Chance to earn the final spot in the main event.

Austin Novratil led all four laps and scored a dominant victory in the Second Division Main Event. Joey Holt finished second, Josh Abbott was third, and Tim McGrath finished fourth.

Brad Moreau was well on his way to victory in the Third Division Main Event when he hit straightened up and hit the fence exiting turn two and went down. Bander Alexander was awarded the victory, DeWayne Stark was second, Paul Thornton got third, Rick Huspek was fourth, and a disappointed Moreau was credited with fifth.

Nicky Reimer put together four smooth laps to win the Youth Main Event. Maxwell Ruml finished second, Hayley Perrault was third, Elijah Harrison-Hicks finished fourth, Dillon Ruml was fifth, Michael Wells finished sixth, Keelan Venegas was seventh, and Alexis Harrison-Hicks finished eighth.

Kale Fredholm assumed the lead at the end of the second lap and went on to victory in the Pee Wee Main Event. Nick Varner finished second, Kole Fredholm was third, Brian Pintar finished fourth, Michael Wells was fifth, and Victoria Matthews finished sixth.

Jimmy Fishback and Dave German held off Dave Alexander and Bander Alexander to win the Sidecar Main Event.
