National Champion Billy "The Kid" Janniro had a flawless performance and took home the main event victory on Fan Appreciation Night at Inland Motorcycle Speedway in San Bernardino.
Janniro entered the main event undefeated and used his gate choice to select gate one. When the tapes went up he exploded into the lead while Josh Larsen, Jimmy "Little Animal" Fishback, and "Fast" Eddie Castro all gave chase. Larsen emerged from the pack as the closest challenger and set his sights on the leader. Janniro wasn't about to allow any drama and never turned a wheel wrong throughout the four laps. When the checkered flag waved it was Janniro who raced past it first, Larsen finished second, Fishback was third, and Castro finished fourth.
Fishback kicked off the evening with a win over Dukie Ermolenko in the first heat. Northern California's Tommy Hedden beat Steve Russell in the second heat. Jason Ramirez led the third heat before Larsen charged underneath him on the second lap for the lead and the win. Janniro began his night by blazing to victory over Castro. Josh Abbott ended round one with a win over "Flyin" Mike Faria.
Round two started with Hedden beating Ermolenko for his second win. Abbott led the next heat almost the entire distance but Larsen stole the victory at the finish line. Janniro ran away with his second straight victory in event 14. Joey "The Bolt" Holt beat Shawn "Mad Dog" McConnell in the next event. John Marquez led the final race of the second round until Castro swept around the outside on the final lap to edge him at the finish line.
Fishback started the third round with a win over Rick "The Rage" Valdez. Janniro beat Ermolenko for his third straight victory. Castro beat Hedden for his second consecutive win. Aaron Fox beat Larsen in event 26. Michael Raines defeated Abbott to finish round three.
Castro opened the final round by beating Russell for his third straight win. Larsen defeated Ermolenko for his third win of the evening. Janniro remained perfect by beating McConnell. Fishback beat Hedden for his third victory. Fox ended the heats with a win over Valdez.
Larsen and Fishback finished one-two in a three-rider runoff to advance directly to the main event while Castro was relegated to the Last Chance. Fox defeated Abbott in a runoff to earn a spot in the Last Chance Race.
Castro led the first attempt of the Last Chance but was in a fierce battle with Tommy Hedden. When they exited turn two the second time Hedden hooked up and collided with Castro which sent both men tumbling down the back straight. Castro was up relatively quickly while Hedden was down for several minutes. Castro was able to restart, but Hedden was out with a concussion. Castro led the restart for the entire distance to take the final spot in the main.
Gabe Price held off every challenge that Brandon Leedy could muster over four laps and won the Second Division Main Event. Leedy settled for second, Mitch Pierson finished third, and Chris Jones was fourth.
Steve "Beach Ball" Brown thrilled the fans by leading all four laps and earning the victory in the Third Division Main Event. Kip McClain was second, Tony DeAlmeida finished third, Kevin Fife was fourth, Rick Huspek finished fifth, and Carl Shockley was sixth. Brown earned an extra $100 that was donated by Best Golf Carts Inc. to the winner.
Sebastian "Big Daddy" Palmese led the Youth Main Event for a lap before sliding off and handing the lead to Dalton Leedy. He led until the end of the third lap when Broc Nicol cut underneath Leedy and took the lead on the front straight. Nicol held on from there and claimed victory. Leedy settled for second, Gino Scopellite was third, Shea Bendykowski finished fourth, and Palmese was fifth.
Jimmy Fishback IV led from start to finish en route to victory in the Pee Wee Main Event. Luke Whitcomb was second and Mikey Ortega finished third.
