Guess which was the only Hamill to go home with a trophy tonight! Visiting Industry for their first time was the Martin family. Former racer Steve is next to #31 Sterling, while #30 Alex is with mother Margaret. The boys devastated the Pee Wees from the 120 yard line while Margaret wins the pit tootsie/pit mom of the week award. Charlie Venegas added this to his trophy collection for main event wins at Industry.

Industry Racing - City of Industry, CA, USA - June 6

Charlie "The Edge" Venegas and Steve Russell both took home main event victories after another great evening full of action Industry Racing.

Shawn "Mad Dog" McConnell led the Scratch Main into turn one but former World Champion Billy "The Bullet" Hamill found plenty of traction on the outside and went around McConnell on the back straight. Jimmy "Little Animal" Fishback went down as he entered turn one the second time and brought out the red flag. Fishback was ordered to the penalty line for the restart. McConnell led the restart into turn one with Hamill again trying to go around him. Both riders were joined by Venegas to make an exciting three-wide battle. Venegas found the most grip on the thick outside and spectacularly swept into the lead. Hamill emerged with second and instantly went after the leader. Venegas hugged the inside while Hamill tried to make the outside work. Hamill remained close the entire way but Venegas held on for the victory. Hamill settled for the runner-up spot for the second consecutive week, McConnell was third, and Fishback finished fourth.

Russell beat fellow 20 yard starter Jason Ramirez to turn one and grabbed the lead in the Handicap Main Event. Gino Manzares, who started from the 30 yard line, quickly dispatched Ramirez and went after the leader. Manzares was clamped to Russell's back wheel and applied immense pressure hoping to force an error. Manzares kept the heat on Russell as the laps ticked away. Russell, who has been close to several victories in the two years since returning to racing, wasn't going to be denied this time. He was first to the checkered flag for his first main event victory in over 20 years, Manzares settled for second, Hamill finished third, Fishback was fourth, John Marquez finished fifth, and Ramirez was sixth.

The Last of the Mohicans Last Man Out Challenge made its return to Industry Racing. The top two racers advance to the Final at the end of the season. Aaron Fox was eliminated first followed by Tyson Talkington, which left Tyson Burmeister and Fishback for the two-lap battle. Burmeister led the first lap but Fishback was making the outside line work and gained ground on the second lap. Burmeister was glued to the inside on the final corner but Fishback got a lot of traction from the outside and made a final charge on the front straight. Burmeister narrowly beat Fishback to the finish line and the crowd showed its appreciation for the efforts of both riders with a loud ovation.

Harold Hartke made a great start in the Second Division Main Event and never looked back on his way to victory. Mike Salyer was second, Chris Jones finished third, and Kayle LeoGrande was fourth.

Bruce Marteney led from start to finish and won the Third Division Main Event for the second week in a row. Craig Sprecher was second, Kip McClain finished third, and Rick Howard was fourth.

Kurtis Hamill led all four laps en route to victory in the Youth 250cc Main Event. Broc Nicol finished second and Dalton Leedy was third.

Courtney Crone led the six-rider Youth 200cc Main Event field on the first lap. Braydan Galvin, who started on the 30 yard line, brilliantly used the outside line and was in second at the start of the second lap. Galvin charged after Crone and took the lead from her entering turn three. Galvin raced off into the sunset from there and scored the win. Crone held on for second, Maverick Molloy finished third, Sebastian Palmese was fourth, Michael Wells finished fifth, and Adam Herkner was sixth.

Sterling Martin and Alex Martin, sons of former Northern California racer Steve "The Volcano" Martin, each won a heat in such convincing fashion that they started the Pee Wee Main Event on the back straight. The Martin Brothers stormed from far behind and were closing on the leaders on the third lap. Sterling Martin assumed the lead from Luke Whitcomb as they took the white flag and was followed by his brother. Sterling Martin held off Alex Martin on the final lap and took the win. Whitcomb finished third, Nick Dunn was fourth, and Jake Isaac finished fifth.

Next Wednesday's event at Industry Racing will have all divisions of speedway and will include the Sidecars.
