Industry Racing, CA, USA - June 20

Billy "The Bullet" Hamill won the Last of the Mohicans Last Man Out Challenge and finished his flawless evening with a main event victory for the second consecutive week at Industry Racing.

Charlie "The Edge" Venegas started the main event in gate two and made a good enough start to get across Hamill as they entered turn one. Hamill attacked on the inside on the back straight but Venegas slammed the door on him as they entered turn three and held the lead through lap one. The former World Champion switched his assault to the outside, found ample traction on the well-prepared track, and blasted around the leader in spectacular fashion. Hamill remained on the outside and ran away on the final two laps and was first to the checkered flag. Venegas finished second, Under 21 National Champion Austin Novratil was third, and Tyson Burmeister finished fourth.

Burmeister opened the heat races by using the outside to take the lead and the win from Steve Russell. Novratil began his evening with a win over Bobby "Boogaloo" Schwartz. Aaron Fox held off Venegas to win event three. Hamill blazed to victory over Jimmy "Little Animal" Fishback to finish the first round.

The second round began with Fox getting the lead only to have Fishback go around him. Fishback inexplicably fell and handed the lead and win to Fox. Burmeister beat Novratil for his second straight win. Neil Facchini defeated John Marquez to win event 14. Hamill brought the crowd to its feet with a come-from-behind victory over Venegas to end round two.

Fishback started round three with an outside pass of Marquez to get a victory. Fox kept a hard-charging Burmeister at bay to remain undefeated. Venegas beat Tyson Talkington for his first win. Hamill matched Fox's perfect score by beating Novratil in the final heat.

Talkington and Marquez finished one-two in a four-rider runoff with Facchini and Russell Green to fill the final two spots in the semis.

Hamill roared to his fourth victory in his semi with Burmeister following him into the main event. The second semi ended in a heap in turn four with all four riders going down. A complete restart was ordered and Venegas took the win while Novratil finished second to take the other transfer to the main event.

Fox won the First Division Consolation with his PFM Racing teammate Marquez finishing second and Talkington getting third.

Facchini was the first rider eliminated in the Last of the Mohicans Last Man Out Challenge and was followed by Schwartz. This left Hamill and Marquez for the final, two-lap challenge. Hamill was off the starting line first and led both laps for the win.

The Second Division Main Event began with a three-wide battle through turns one and two between "Rattlesnake" Steve Bowen, Eloy Medellin, and Marvin Sonnier. Sonnier showed some nerve by leaving the throttle on and sweeping around the outside of Bowen and Medellin to take the lead on the back straight. Medellin didn't give up the fight and chased after the leader. Sonnier never wavered, despite the constant pressure, and held on for the win. Medellin had to settle for second, Bowen finished third, and Kayle LeoGrande was fourth.

Jonni Jade led the first lap of the Third Division Main but Danny Baker passed him on the inside at the start of the second lap. Baker didn't look back and was victorious for the second week in a row. Jade held on to second, Kip McClain finished third, and Chris Wiggins was fourth.

Braden Sauer led the Youth 250cc Main Event before sliding off in turn four. Gumball Rally Champion Broc Nicol inherited the lead while Max Ruml charged from the back. Nicol's lead shrank with each lap but he still led as they entered the final corner. Nicol's bike began to pop exiting the final turn and Max Ruml snuck past him for the win. Nicol coasted to second while Dillon Ruml finished third.

Braydan Galvin used his customary outside line to race around the field, this week after starting from the 50 yard line, to win the Youth 200cc Main Event for the fourth consecutive week. Sebastian Palmese finished second, Michael Wells was third, Maverick Molloy was fourth, and Dylan Smith was credited with fifth.

Luke Whitcomb overcame a 60 yard handicap start to win the Pee Wee Main Event. Nick Dunn was second and Jake Trout finished third.

Former World Pairs Champion and speedway legend Dennis Sigalos was in attendance along with his nephew, Connor De Phillippi, and members of the Star Mazda Championship. Sigalos and De Phillippi were both interviewed by track announcer Bruce Flanders during the evening. Everyone enjoyed the action on the track and visited with Hamill in his pit area for a long period of time after the races. De Phillippi is currently second in the series that develops drivers for open wheel racing and will be racing at Iowa Speedway this weekend.

Next week's event at Industry Racing is Salute to our Military Night and will have all divisions of speedway as well as the sidecars.
