Who's that mystery rider parking his bike in turn 1? None other than in my opinion, most improved Division 1 rider of the year, #46 Aaron Fox.

Costa Mesa Track Championship - Costa Mesa, CA, USA - September 14

Billy "The Kid" Janniro won the most incredible main event in many years to claim the Track Championship at the world famous Costa Mesa Speedway.

Janniro was lined up in gate two with none other than current National Champion Billy "The Bullet" Hamill starting inside him. Billy Hamill held a slight advantage as the two combatants entered turn one. The two were handlebar-to-handlebar exiting turn two with Janniro gaining a slight advantage as they entered turn three Janniro went deep into the corner while Billy Hamill remained on the blue groove. Janniro led by inches when the completed lap one and dived in front of Billy Hamill entering turn one the second time but his speed carried him wide in turn two. Billy Hamill gained a little ground on the back straight and Janniro was forced to use the wide line through turns three and four again. Billy Hamill charged up the inside to take the lead at the halfway point was Janniro was done. He carried a lot of speed and went around the former World Champion again as they entered turn one the third time. Billy Hamill closed on Janniro on the back straight and they were even again going into turn three. Hamill's path through the corners was stronger and he held a bike-length advantage as they took the white flag. Janniro went to the outside the final time through turns one and two and regained the lead yet again. This last time down the back straight Janniro changed his attacked and turned much sharper into turn three and cut in front of Billy Hamill. He was able to hold off his friendly rival to win an unbelievable main event that left everyone's jaws on the ground. Aaron Fox had the best seat in the house and finished third, Under 21 National Champion "Mad" Max Ruml was fourth, and Tyson Burmeister finished fifth.

Burmeister opened the evening with a win over Gino Manzares. Max Ruml won a hotly-contested battle with Aaron Fox in the second heat. Janniro beat Shawn "Mad Dog" McConnell in the third heat. Billy Hamill defeated "Battling" Buck Blair to end round one.

Burmeister started round two by defeating "Flyin" Mike Faria. Fox beat Blair for his first win. Max Ruml scored a big victory over Manzares and Janniro in event 11. Billy Hamill beat "Fast" Eddie Castro to finish the second round.

Burmeister began the final round by beating Manzares again to remain perfect. Fox beat Faria for his second straight win. Janniro beat Bobby "Boogaloo" Schwartz for his second win. Max Ruml won the last heat while Billy Hamill overcame a bad start to get second.

Billy Hamill blazed to victory in the first semi with Max Ruml getting second to join him in the main event. Burmeister and Janniro waged an incredible side-by-side battle for two laps in the second semi. Janniro used the outside line to secure the lead on the third lap while Burmeister made a mistake that allowed Fox to slip by for second. Janniro held on for the win and Fox got second to also transfer to the main.

Burmeister held off Manzares to win the Last Chance and transfer to the main. McConnell finished third and Faria was fourth.

Kyle Hicks made the best start and led all four laps to take home the Support Division Track Championship. Eloy Medellin finished second, Bruce Marteney was third, Carl Gazafy finished fourth, and Rudy Laurer was credited with fifth after breaking the tapes.

Junior National Champion Dillon Ruml put together four smooth laps and won the Junior 250 Track Championship. Dalton Leedy finished second, Kurtis Hamill was third, and Broc Nicol finished fourth.

Courtney Crone made the best start and raced away with the victory in the Mini 150 First Division Track Championship. Sebastian Palmese finished second, Sterling Martin was third, and Dryden LeoGrande finished fourth.

Slater Lightcap led from start to finish en route to victory in the Mini 150 Second Division Track Championship. Tristan Britt finished second, Travis Hamilton was third, Jake Isaac finished fourth, and Alex Martin was fifth.

The next event at Costa Mesa Speedway is Saturday, September 28 and it will be the 999th speedway event held at the iconic venue. The MK Products Sidecar National and Harley Night Finals will be held that night and there will also be a First Division speedway program. In addition, production crews and motion picture cameras will be ubiquitous because they will be filming for the newest installment of the On Any Sunday series. It will be an incredible opportunity for speedway to gain exposure when the film is released.
