Costa Mesa SpeedwayOrange County Fairgrounds Harley Night #2 Results from Costa Mesa and photos are Continued Below... Multi-time National Champion Billy “The Kid” Janniro won his fifth consecutive main event and ran his individual race-winning streak to 23 in front of standing-room-only crowd on Law Tigers/Lifestyle Cycles Harley Night at the world famous Costa Mesa Speedway. Janniro and Jimmy “Little Animal” Fishback both entered the main event undefeated. Janniro won the draw between to the two of them and chose gate one. Fishback quickly selected gate two. Former National Champion Charlie “The Edge” Venegas picked gate four which left former Under 21 National Champion “Mad” Max Ruml with gate three. Janniro led the field into turn one with Fishback in tow and Ruml and Venegas trailing behind. Fishback set his sights on the leader but also had to contend with Ruml snapping at his heels. Janniro steadily opened his lead while Fishback battled to hold on to second. Ruml’s relentless pressure paid off when he slipped underneath Fishback for second as they took the white flag. That was as far as he would progress as the leader’s advantage was too large to overcome in one lap. Janniro was first to the checkered flag, Ruml had to settle for a hard-earned second, Fishback was third, and Venegas finished fourth. The evening commenced just as it would end, with a Janniro victory. “Fast” Eddie Castro turned in a vintage performance in event two by defeating Austin Novratil and Aaron Fox. Venegas beat fellow former National Champions Chris Manchester and Bobby “Boogaloo” Schwartz in event three. Fishback finished the first round with a defeat of Ruml. Ruml started the second round by defeating former Junior National Champion Jason Ramirez. Manchester led event 10 for three laps before Janniro went by for the lead and the win. Shawn “Mad Dog” McConnell beat Michael Wells in event 11. Fishback trapped from gate four and held off Novratil and Venegas to end round two with his second straight win. Venegas beat Jason Ramirez to start round three with his second victory. Novratil beat Fox and McConnell in event 18. Janniro scored a victory over Ruml for his third consecutive win. Fishback concluded the heats by beating Sammy Ramirez to match Janniro’s perfect score. Fishback made it four for four with a win in the first semi while Ruml followed him into the main event. Janniro won the second semi with Venegas finishing second to transfer to the main event. David Lynch made the best start in the Second Division Main Event and staked himself to a seemingly comfortable lead. Hayley Perrault pursued the leader and slowly chipped away at his lead. As they took the white flag she was right behind Lynch. He held his lead entering the final corner but left some room on the inside exiting turn four. Perrault shot through the gap and they drag-raced to the finish. It was Perrault who got to the line first much to the delight of the large crowd. A very disappointed Lynch was a narrow second, Blake Cronkrite was third, and Mike Miller finished fourth. National Champions Joe Jones and Tom Summers led from start to finish and captured the Sidecar Main Event. Dillon Osborne and Ashley Gibbons were second, Robert Curry and Lori Curry finished third, and Bryan Motis and Chris Chatfield were fourth.
