Industry RacingThe Grand Industry Hills Expo Center Laidlaws Harley Night Industry Racing - August 22 Just three weeks after returning to Southern California, “Mad” Max Ruml took home his first main event victory on Laidlaw’s Harley Davidson Night at Industry Racing. Max Ruml and Dillon Ruml started next to each other and that’s how they raced through turns one and two. Max Ruml’s inside line proved better and he took control as they entered turn three. At the end of lap one Austin Novratil sliced under Dillon Ruml and took second place. His progress ended there as Max Ruml was comfortably in front and raced away with the victory. Novratil had to settle for second, Aaron Fox finished third, and Dillon Ruml ended up fourth. Fox opened up the evening with a win ahead of Michael Wells. Dillon Ruml got the better of his brother in event two. Novratil finished round one by defeating Tim Gomez. Round two started with Fox holding off former World Pairs Champion Bobby “Boogaloo” Schwartz for his second straight win. Dillon Ruml beat Gomez for his second win in a row. Novratil matched Fox and Dillon Ruml by ending the second round with a victory over Max Ruml. Max Ruml began the third round by beating Schwartz for his first victory. Fox remained perfect with a win over Gomez. Novratil brought the heats to a close by beating Dillon Ruml to match Fox’s perfect score. Fox led the first semi and appeared on his way to four straight victories but Max Ruml spoiled that with a pass at the end of lap three to take the lead and the win. Fox held on to second to also transfer to the main. Gomez and Novratil raced side-by-side in the second semi before Novratil, racing on the dirt line, secured the lead at the halfway point. Dillon Ruml borrowed Novratil’s strategy swept around Gomez for the second and final transfer to the main. Gomez was victorious in the Scratch Consolation with Schwartz getting second, Wells finishing third, and Rudy Laurer coming in fourth. Chet Kohler made the best start in the Second Division Main Event but Blake Cronkrite charged up the inside for the lead on the back straight. Cronkrite was made nary a mistake and cruised to the victory. David Lynch finished second, Ron Davis was third, and Kohler was credited with fourth. Greg Willis’s started at the front of the field in the Third Division Main Event but his lead was short-lived. Kevin Fiore went around the outside of Willis on the back straight. Steve “Beach Ball” Brown worked through traffic and found himself in second place. Brown steadily closed ground and waited as the leader’s racing line got progressively wider. It looked like Fiore would survive but he hit the fence in turn four with the checkered flag in sight. He slowed dramatically and Brown raced by to steal the win. A disappointed Fiore finished second, David Newsham was third, Dennis Osmer finished fourth, George Yates was fifth, and Willis was credited with sixth. Levi Leutz led the Mini 150 Main Event through lap one but was under pressure from Owen Williams. Leutz went down entering turn three the second time and Williams assumed the lead. Williams made no mistakes from there and claimed the victory. Jose “Nitro” Navarrete finished second and Leutz was third.
