I am sadden by the loss of my friend Johnny Grant. He will truly be missed by many. Johnny did a lot for a lot of people. I am happy I got to visit him before he passed away. He said he was very thankful for all the things his friends have been doing for him since his illness began. He is now resting in peace with his sons. My deepest sympathies go out to Ruby and the Grant family. Kim VanderMeeden.

John "The Mountain Man" Grant was one special guy. I always enjoyed his company. We will all miss this super guy. RC Jones

God saw that he was getting tired
and a cure was not to be,
so He put his arms around him
and whispered, "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer
and saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly
we would not ask him to stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

From the Becerra Family

Sad news arrived that John Grant from Georgetown, CA had passed away from a long battle with leukemia. One of the truly good guys in motorcycle racing Johnny will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was equally comfortable at home and happy racing Harley flat trackers or Jawa speedway bikes, dirt tracks or ice. He loved racing and all the people associated with the sport.

John "Mountain Man" Grant was a fierce competitor for many seasons in the ICE World Championship Series on a speedway bike. And who will forget when he showed up with the first real Unlimited Outlaw Quad, that crazy 4-cylinder 900cc "Nightmare" monster quad that he designed and fabricated. John rode the wheels off that thing pitching it in and throttling it sideways around the corners, pinning it up to the rev limiter to the total joy of the fans. What a show! What a great friend of racing we have all lost.
