The first thing we looked at was the Honda team. They went 261.875 in the mile. Fast with a small engine. Guy Martin did not get any good runs in on the Triumph Rocket motorcycle streamliner.

Triumph Rocket. Rocky says, "well down there is the end." Just follow the blue line for speed.

General Notes: Bonneville is not a spectator sport. Mike Cook puts on a great event designed for cars that go over 400mph and bikes over 300mph. This meet was not as good as the ones in the past because of salt conditions. The salt has been getting worse and worse every year. Oh well, time will tell.

Danny Thompson drove the Challenger II but had a tire explode which ended his meet.

Snowmobile rider Jamie Williams topped 196 mph and was awesome to watch.

The Venturi Buckeye Bullet team from The Ohio State University set new absolute electric vehicle speed record at 341.4 mph.

Al Lamb put more than 50 mph on an AMA record with his Honda CB1000, in APS1000/blown fuel, running 227.9 on a 176 mph record.

Jim and Mary True put a little more muscle on their Category A, Group II, class 5 (I/GS) record with a 263.045 in the Kilo and 262.927 in the mile. (I/gas streamliner, with a 1L (1000cc) Kawasaki ZX10R engine.)

Ioniq HEV, the first of three new alternative fuel Hyundai vehicles, sets an FIA approved hybrid land speed record of 157.825 mph.

Erin Okonek earned membership in the exclusive 200 MPH Club and her red hat with a new record of 217.412 mph on a 1350cc Hyabusa running as a modified partial streamliner/aspirated fuel.

Mike Akatiff and Rocky Robinson saw the conditions of the salt for two wheel streamliners not conducive to speed.
