Speedway2013 Happy 82nd Birthday Bob LaidlawApril 15, 2013Industry Racing sponsor Laidlaw’s Harley Davidson held a wild birthday bash for it’s founder Bob Laidlaw. Hot dogs and burgers followed by cake for 500. The Baldwin Park dealership located just five miles from the Industry Hills Expo Center was decked out as party central and packed with bikes of every kind and bikers that were just as diverse. Bob Laidlaw riding his 1911 Harley was the hit of the day as he maneuvered though the parking lot filled with people and high dollar custom, modified and race bikes. Handling the belt drive single created no difficulties and Bob easily maneuvered the machine around every obstacle Having a reputation for being race friendly Laidlaw’s has sponsored several Speedway riders over the years. Former Wednesday night IMS Speedway promoter John LaDouceur and Sidecar racer Jeff Medberry both work at the Harley Davidson dealership. Son Jerry Laidlaw won several Chopper races on the old IMS, Costa Mesa, Perris, Speedway circuit in the way-back days. A sight to see the tall and skinny Laidlaw always raced an old Highway Patrol machine. Thanks for your sponsorship Laidlaw’s Harley Davidson. Industry Racing looks forward too seeing all the Laidlaw generations at our Wednesday night Speedway again this season. Howie Zechner
