Announcer Scott Reed chats with 2nd Division hot shoe #114 Troy McConnell before the races. Professional cyclist Kayle LeoGrande (center) gets some good racing tips from legend Jim Fishback, Jr. (right) and son Jimmy III (left). A novice 3rd Division rider, Kayle has great potential. Our Riders Meeting was attended by 19-year-old Richard Andrews, who races across the pond.

Co-Promoter Shawn McConnell presented IMS "Dirt Doctor" Benny Mears with a special plaque, in appreciation for all his hard work this season. We had one of the best surfaces all year, thanks to Benny. The gate tapes were not working Thursday night, but riders quickly adapted to green flag starts and restarts were rare. #185 LeoGrande made an impressive appearance, considering it was only his ninth ride on a Jawa. Here he takes turn one in one of Jimmy Fishback's old riding suits.

250cc hot shoe Dillon Ruml had a brush with the wall after navigating around a wreck. Uncharacteristically, "Pickle" was done for the night. Speedway friends Alicia and Kent escort #111 to the pit gate. 200cc rider #45 Braydan Galvin was in rare form Thursday night, winning his Division in style. Weymouth Wildcats rider Richard Andrews was able to turn several laps at IMS as a prelude to his entry in Saturday night's big race at Wheel2Wheel raceway in Victorville, CA.

IMS closed out it's 2011 regular season, Thursday night at the National Orange Show Fairgrounds in San Bernardino, CA. Divisions two and three, along with Juniors and Pee Wees took to the IMS track, after a rained out previous Sunday try at the Speedway Oval.

The Winter Series schedule will be out soon, but, here's what over 5000 people missed, last night. Speedway die-hards, friends, family, groupies, and riders, witnessed some of the best track conditions of the year, after a thorough drenching of the track the previous Sunday. Shawn "Mad Dog" McConnell called off the race Sunday, as the conditions deteriorated, and the skies opened up for a prolonged downpour…So…The re-scheduled date was November 10th.

Thursday Night Racing resumed with a near perfect track prepped by Benny Mears and crew, and eager speedway competitors. Under dark skies, and cold (for so-cal) conditions some of the best racing of the year took place…Even some demo "Hot Laps" by Richard Andrews of the UK's Weymouth Widcats…Complete story coming soon…
