Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys Night
June 13, 2018 - Industry Racing
By Ryan Evans

One week after not winning the main despite winning all his other races, Dillon “Pickle” Ruml closed the deal and won the Scratch Main Event on Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorney Night at Industry Racing.

Ruml finished third in his opening heat then rattled off three straight wins to earn first choice of starting position in the main event. Just as he had done last week, he chose gate one. Charlie “The Edge” Venegas picked gate two, Jimmy “Little Animal” Fishback took gate four, which left Aaron Fox with gate three.

Venegas led the field into the first corner but went wide in turn two and left a wide gap on the inside. Ruml got his wheels in line, charged up the inside, and took the lead. Venegas stayed wide in an effort to catch Ruml but that just allowed Fox to take over second. Fox set his sights on the leader but the former Youth National Champion was in control. Ruml was first to the checkered flag, Fox finished second, Venegas was third, and Fishback finished fourth.

The ten-rider format created four rounds in which each racer competed three times. 61 year old Bobby “Boogaloo” Schwartz got the crowd on its feet in the opening heat by defeating both Fox and Ruml. Fishback defeated Russell Green and Venegas in the second heat.

Fishback held off Green again for his second straight win. Event nine was full of action. Fox led at the start but rode a wide line that allowed Tim Gomez to take the lead on the third lap. Fox answered back by using the outside on the final lap to take the victory.

Venegas defeated Gomez in event 14 to collect his first win. Fishback led event 15 for three laps before Ruml swept around the outside on the final lap to grab the victory.

Fox beat Michael Wells in event 22. Ruml passed Gomez on the second lap of event 23 to end the heats with a victory.

Hayley Perrault led from start to finish and captured the Second Division Main Event. Bruce Marteney was second, Blake Cronkrite finished third, and Rudy Laurer was fourth.

Dennis Osmer defeated Greg Willis and David Newsham en route to winning the Third Division Main Event.

Slater Lightcap put together four smooth laps and won the Junior 250 Main Event. Alex Martin came home second, Andrew Russell was third, Luke Whitcomb finished fourth, and Jake Isaac was credited with fifth after suffering an engine failure.

Levi Leutz was the led fellow zero-yard racer Gordon Teuber III into the first corner and held the lead through the first lap of the Mini 150 Main Event. Owen Williams made quick work of Teuber and took aim at Leutz. Williams went to the outside the second time they raced down the back straight and took over the lead. Williams raced away from there and was victorious. Teuber got past Leutz for second, Jose “Nitro” Navarrete was fourth, and Travis Horn was credited with fifth.

Ken Matsudaira defeated Jenson Horn to win the Pee Wee Main Event.

Dillon Osborne and Ashley Gibbons survived a restart and won the Sidecar Main Event. Ace Kale and Kevin Kale finished second, Joe Jones and Tom Summers finished third, and Bryan Motis and Johnny Back were credited with fourth.
