Fast Friday's Motorcycle Speedway kicked off the 2025 season with a great night of racing. A enthusiastic crowd eager for some great speedway action after the long off season filled the McCann Stadium in Auburn's Gold Country Fairgrounds. David Joiner and his talented staff had the track and facilities at their best. This is the 30th year for Fast Friday's. Over the years some of the best speedway racers have ridden on this track in the foothills in Auburn. If the stands could talk, they would tell of some of the best racing moments in speedway history. The spills, photo finishes, championship nights and wonderful times with families making great memories at the track. Hats off to Joiner for bringing this exciting racing to Fast Fridays fans for three decades. From the look of opening night, it looks like this is going to be another great year of racing in Auburn Ca. at Fast Friday's.

Broc Nicol, 27 is from Torrance Ca. and is the current 2024 AMA National Speedway Champion, proudly wearing the number one on his back. Nicol won the Scratch Main Event and proved to be the fastest man of the night. Nicol started the scratch program placing second in his first heat race. He transferred to his semi-final heat and won that race. This put him in the grand finale of the night along with Timmy Dion, Wilbur Hancock and eleven-time national speedway champion Billy Janniro. In the lane draw Nicol choose the number one lane for the start. Off the line Nicol got to turn one first with Dion right on his tail and Janniro working the outside lane back a bike length. Dion tried and gave a gallant effort, but Nicol powered ahead of him in lap two, took and kept the lead by a wide margin to the checkered flag. Dion who had a fantastic night on the track was second, Hancock was third and Janniro fourth.

Russell “The Rocket” Green pulled off a fantastic win in the handicap program. Riding off the 20-yard line. Green was third in his heat race, but it was good enough to transfer to the semi-final race in which he finished second to Darren Armbruster, who starts on the zero line a exciting race. Both riders transferred to the main where the tables were turned with Green taking the win in the six-lap race and Armbruster finishing second. Timmy Dion was third. Green also won the scratch consolation race and had a good night at Fast Friday's.

Local rider, Forty-year-old Cody Aker from Applegate Ca. dominated the Support Class winning every time rode onto the track. Starting with his heat race, then his semi-final race then to the Support Main event where he took the checkered flag. Antonio Coffman worked hard against Aker finishing second to him in the semi-final and the main. Mike Newnham was third. Good job racers, exciting racing action in the Support Class.

Brady Landon of Roseville was successful in the Youth 250cc program winning the main event. Brady who has been successful racing here in America and overseas winning the SGP4 Grand Prix in the 190cc class. The 14-year-old got off to a rocky start in his heat race falling and forcing a restart where he was moved back to the 30-yard line. But he recovered well winning the restart, semi-final and the main event. Jameson Hutchinson was second and Wesley Rearick was third.

Continuing his winning in the Youth 150cc program, Riley Rearick picked up where he left off last season having a perfect night winning both his heat races and then main event. Rearick is the current 2024 AMA Youth 150cc Speedway Champion, and he is off to another winning season. Zander Schroeder was second in the main event and Liam Falcon was third.

The big surprise of the evening was the number of Pee-Wee rider this season at Fast Friday's. Twenty-four of the little racers thrilled fans in three races. Running all at the same time on the track the young racers dressed in flashy racing gear put on a great show. By the looks of the interest of these young racers in speedway we will have plenty of riders coming up in the sport.

Next week, May 16 will be the first of five rounds of the Team Challenge. Team Law Tigers will battle Team IFC each round up to the final round on August 8. Team racing at its best not to be missed. Fast Friday's Motorcycle Speedway, “The place to be on Friday nights.”
