June 6 Industry Racing By Ryan Evans

A week removed from hosting the very successful Connor Penhall Memorial Cup, Industry Racing hosted their first standard event of the season and Jimmy “Little Animal” Fishback went home victorious.

Dillon Ruml entered the main event with a perfect score which afforded him the right to first choice of starting position and he picked gate one. Austin Novratil had second choice and surprisingly took gate three. Fishback selected gate two which left Tim Gomez in gate four.

Fishback made a great start and was able to clamp down on Ruml as they entered turn one. Novratil tried to get to the outside but that didn’t garner him enough traction to make a move on lap one. Ruml placed relentless pressure on the leader the entire four laps but could not force a mistake from. Fishback was first to the checkered flag, Ruml had to settle for second, Gomez was third, and Novratil finished fourth.

Entering the semis Ruml led all scorers after the heats with a perfect nine points; Novratil and Aaron Fox scored eight points apiece; Fishback had seven points; Charlie “The Edge” Venegas had six; Bobby “Boogaloo” Schwartz had three; and Michael Wells and Gomez each had two.

Ruml made the best start in the first semi and led Fishback all the way to the finish and into the main. Novratil was an easy winner in the second semi while Gomez, who struggled most of the night, was able to hold off Fox for the second and final transfer to the main.

Venegas and Fox raced side-by-side for three laps before Venegas was able to gain an advantage. The former California State Champion crossed the finish line first, Fox was second, Schwartz finished third, and Wells was fourth.

Eloy Medellin led from start to finish to claim victory in the Second Division Main Event. Rudy Laurer was second, Bruce Marteney finished third, and Mike Miller was fourth.

Blake Cronkrite won both of heats and completed his perfect night with a dominant victory in the Third Division Main Event. David Newsham was second, Kevin Fife finished third, Brent Smith was fourth, Greg Willis finished fifth, and Kevin Fiore was credited with sixth.

“Gentleman” Jake Isaac rebounded from a rough previous week by winning the Junior 250 Main Event. Slater Lightcap finished second, “Lightning” Luke Whitcomb was third, and Andrew Russell finished fourth.

Justin Almon took the early lead in the Mini 150 Main Event but was pursued by Gordon Teuber III. Almon maintained a comfortable lead over Teuber but Travis Horn and Owen Williams were charging through the field. Horn was in third as the field approached the white flag. Teuber crashed on the front straight and brought out the red flag. The race victory was awarded to Almon. Horn was credited with second, Williams was third, Jose “Nitro” Navarrete was fourth, Levi Leutz was fifth, and Teuber was relegated to sixth.

Bryan Motis and Johnny Bach held the lead in the Sidecar Main Event but had a frantic pack behind them. On the final lap National Champions Joe Jones and Tom Summers got into another team and brought out the red flag. Motis and Bach were awarded the win, Jeff Rowe and Josh Bennett were second, Dillon Osborne and Ashley Gibbons were third, and Jones and Summers were deemed the cause of the stoppage and given fourth.
