MILLER AND LEOGRANDE SCORCH TO D2 PAIRS TITLE AT PERRIS

There was plenty of action in the 28 support races to the AMA Pairs on Feb 1st at Perris.

Division Two saw 5 Pairs entered, with points after two heats each sending two riders to the winner take all Main Event. Heat 1 saw Rudy Laurer and Ron Zellner 5-1 over fellow veterans Joey Donaldson and Tom Bryant. Mike Miller led home team mate Kayle LeoGrande for a 5-1 over Brad Moreau and Tyler Moszer in heat 2. Heat three had Hayley Perrault as the winner but the heat was tied at 3-3 Donaldson and Bryant behind. Heat 4 saw both maximum heat teams from round 1 drawn together, with LeoGrande winning from Zellner with Miller’s third place scoring the 4-2 and clinching a final spot. Next up Mark Fillebrown led home a 5-1 with Perrault over Moreau and Moszer to make them the other finalists. The non-qualifiers raced a 6-man Consi which won by Zellner. The final saw Miller and LeoGrande take maximum points to win the D2 crown.

Division Three had 6 teams and races had size riders. One team mate would start from the line, the other from the 20-yard line. Rees Todd won heat 1 but his team mate a non-finisher, the Fillebrown and Tanner Harmon team with third and fourth also notched 5 points. Andy Dix won heat two and team mate Bryant’s fourth place had them win the heat on 7. David Perry, a non-finisher first time out won heat 3 and team mate Jake Myers scored third to give them 8 points as the winner. Fillebrown won heat 4 but his team mate was last so Dix and Bryant topped out the race on 6. Rheten Todd took the win in the Consi The final was a close affair, Perry was the winner and his team mate Myers was 5th but Dix in second and Bryant 3rd scored 7 points to take the tie breaker and title.

Slater Lightcap took the victors spoils in the 250cc class. Jose Navarette was victorious in 150cc Mini Speedway. AMA double National Champ Levi Leutz took both heats. The Pee Wee class was won by rookie Jackson Spinuzzi. Kensei Matsudaira took the Mini Bike Main after racing legend Rod Lake won both heats. Brandon Gonzalez and Adam Leslie each took a Hooligan heat.
