The format and the name of the Track Championship has been changed for 2011.

Each year our showpiece race has been the Track Championship. Over the last five seasons it has produced some memorable races including Buck Blair passing Scott Brant to win the run off in 2007, Ricky Wells dominating in 2008, Fishback passing Harmatiuk in 2009 in the final, and a faultless maximum from Fast Eddie Castro in 2010. I think the event is worthy of a bigger title after 5 years.

The event, which will close the 2011 season on November 12th, will now be re-branded as the SPEEDWAY MASTERS. The event will be a 16 rider championship format and will have the top 10 riders in points automatically seeded in. The other 6 spots will be allocated to other riders, which may include some Americans who race in Europe and some European riders.

The Track Championship will now be awarded based on points - giving the most consistent rider over the full season the title. As the schedule stands it will be from results in 9 of the 10 other speedway events in 2011, National Pairs championship will be a non points event.

Victorville is bringing back its points championship for 2011. The points per division will qualify riders for the "Speedway Masters" on November 12th, where the expected purse will be $3-5,000.

Points will be scored in each Division as such;

Heats / Semis / Consi (4 rider or less) 6,4,2,1, (5 riders) 6,4,3,2,1, (6 Riders 6,5,4,3,1)

Mains will be Double. Riders qualifying from an LCQ will get points for the Main. not LCQ finish.

In events where classes are combined, points are scored based on your finish in that class for that race (i.e. D2 and D3 mixed, if you are a D3 who gets 2nd in the race and a D2 rider wins, for the sake of points, you get 1st place points).

The top 10 in points in D1 will be seeded direct to the Masters. There will be 4 wild card spots, but they will be offered (in preference) to riders who race in the UK and Nor Cal D1 riders. The remaining 2 spots will be raced off for on the day. Riders who are loyal will get more points and the track has had a long standing policy of rewarding its regulars when it comes to its big events.

Other Divisions will be issued bonus points based on their points position to add to their heats on championship day to get them into the Mains, which will decide the trophies.

The track will publish points standings after each event.
