Thanks,
Kelly

You MUST also have both current AMA and USA Speedway licenses because the practice is sanctioned. You can purchase both licenses at the practice, or you can go to the respective websites of AMA and USA Speedway, so you don't have to wait in line to fill out forms at the track. You can also call us at the office if you need all the forms mailed to you.

It is YOUR responsibility to have both current 2007 licenses needed to participate in any practice, or race. There were too many issues last season with the dual licenses you MUST have, so make sure you have them! You WILL NOT be able to race or practice without them.
Thank you in advance. Again, any questions..please call us at 714-901-2655

SPEEDWAY RETURNS TO THE GRAND IN 2006

(April 16, 2006)
Speedway racing will return to The Grand at the Industry Hills Expo Center for a third season in 2006. Racing at The Grand will also be managed by a new promotional group comprised of several speedway enthusiasts.

The group is headed by Hugh Randolph, Kelly Inman, Lee Crecelius, and Shawn McConnell and is currently operating as American Speedway Coalition. The new promoters were very pro-active in helping to resolve noise issues that clouded the future of racing at the state-of-the-art facility. The group actively sought the development of a muffler that would satisfy the noise restrictions imposed on events staged at the facility. They also arranged for the sound test led to the approval of the new mufflers and opened the door to events being held at The Grand.
The Season Opener is scheduled for Wednesday, May 17, 2006. Although the promoters have changed, the ticket prices, parking, and all concessions will remain the same price. The first event at The Grand will actually be a Press and Practice Day scheduled for Sunday, May 7 from Noon to 4:00 p.m. and admission is FREE to anyone who wishes to attend that day and the concession stands will be selling food and refreshments.

The new promoters have big plans for the facility including changing the racing surface, the safety fence, and the pit area. They are also hoping to add Handicap racing to the First Division program and also stage several big events including a Track Championship, California State Championship, and possibly a round of the AMA Sports National Speedway Championship.

Although the top management level has changed, several important members will return in their same capacities. Two-time National Champion Steve Lucero has confirmed that he will be the referee and Wendy Lucero and Carrie Hancock will again be in charge of the back gate. The promoters are confident that more key people who were an integral part of racing at The Grand will be confirmed as well.

The Press and Practice Day will be chance for riders to interact with the new promoters and also acquire and test the new mufflers that will be mandatory at The Grand. Riders will also be able to fill out their release forms, purchase their AMA and USA Speedway cards, and sign up for Opening Night. It will also serve as an opportunity for fans to meet their favorite riders and get more information about speedway at The Grand in 2006.

For additional information, riders and fans are encouraged to call (714) 901-2655, e-mail industryspeedway@yahoo.com, or visit www.AmericanSpeedwayCoalition.com.

AMA U.S. UNDER 21 CHAMPIONSHIP COMES TO THE GRAND

(November 16)
The 2004 AMA United States Under 21 National Championship will be held on Saturday, November 20 at The Grand in Industry Hills. In addition, the 2004 California Youth Championship will be held as well. The events will again be promoted by former First Division rider Donny "Too Tall" Odom. Odom has spent a lot of time planning and organizing the event and he is excited to promote the event again after experiencing success promoting last year's event at Wheel2Wheel Raceway in Victorville.

The event will have a $2,000 minimum purse that could potentially grow larger. Riders who were born between January 1, 1984 and November 20, 1988 are eligible for the Under 21 Championship. The regular AMA eligibility rules will apply for the California Youth Championship and the youth title will be staged as one division, similar to the Youth National Championship.

Last year's event was well supported by both riders and fans. The Under 21 attracted riders from Southern California, Northern California, as well as two riders from New York and one form Colorado. Eric Carrillo won the Under 21 Championship by defeating Bryan Yarrow and Ryan Fisher in a dramatic three-rider runoff. Ricky Wells won the California Youth Championship by a narrow one-point margin over Jason Ramirez.

The pit gate will open at 4:00 for all riders. There will be a brief practice session scheduled to begin at 5:30. The elimination round and round one of the youth division will begin at 6:15. A rider parade will take place at 6:45 and the Under 21 Championship rounds begin at 7:00. Riders must be at the track and ready prior to the start of the practice session in order to practice. Late arrivers will not be allowed to practice.
Entry fees are $40 per rider in the Under 21, $25 per rider in the Youth Championship, and $25 per mechanic regardless of division. Racing fuel will be provided to the speedway riders by the promoter.

Anyone seeking more information may can contact Ryan Evans via e-mail at sideways31@aol.com or Donny Odom at (310) 991-4479 or via e-mail at dodom@murraycompany.com.

BULLET BLASTS INTO THE GRAND

(September 20, 2004)
1996 World Speedway Champion Billy "The Bullet" Hamill will be making an appearance at The Grand in Industry Hills on September 22. Hamill, in California for the AMA National Championship in Auburn on September 24, will be making his first appearance at Southern California's newest speedway facility. Hamill, who grew up in nearby Monrovia, is excited to be competing near his old stomping grounds. Hamill, who has won three AMA National Championships, competes regularly in Sweden, Poland, and Italy.

SEASON EXTENDED AT THE GRAND

(September 7, 2004)
It was announced today that Laidlaw's Harley Davidson would be the new title sponsor for the AMA Speedway racing from "The Grand" in the City of Industry on Wednesday nights.

"When co-promoter Howie Zechner told me he was involved in a new track here in the San Gabriel valley, I got very excited," said Jerry Laidlaw. "I was involved with the sport for quite some time and even competed in some of the Harley events they use to run. I went to 'The Grand' and got hooked again. It all came back, the noise, the smell, the action. I'm proud Laidlaws is involved."

It's all coming together for me and my partners, Freddie Orosco and Dukie Ermolenko," said Zechner. "The management at the Industry Hills Event Center likes us, the riders love the track, and the spectators love the racing. With Laidlaws on board we could race all the way thru the winter if we so decided."

This Wednesday night is Harley Davidson Night. A fitting tribute to Laidlaws' first night back as a sponsor. It will also include First, Second, and Third Division speedway as well as Juniors and Pee Wees.
Industry has been running 40+ events each night With a 10:00 p.m. curfew, it's important that we start on time at 7:00 p.m.

Speedway Racing from "The Grand" is also being televised on the Adelphia cable system and airs locally at 7:00 p.m. on Mondays on Channel 3. Video of the racing may be ordered thru RAZ Video at (626) 449-1175 or Howie@razvideo.com

SPEEDWAY RETURNS TO SAN GABRIEL VALLEY

(July 5, 2004)
Southern California will have a new speedway venue when The Grand at the Industry Hills Events Center hosts its first speedway event on Wednesday, August 11. Freddie Orosco of Sweet International will be promoting four AMA Sanctioned events at the arena during the month of August. Orosco is confident that the success of the four events will show that there is enough interest from riders and fans to promote future events at the venue on a regular basis.

This will be the first speedway event held in the San Gabriel Valley since the original Irwindale Speedway was closed after the 1977 season. The event has already sparked interest thanks to two articles in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune and a booth at last week's car races at Irwindale Speedway. Response has been plentiful and positive.

The Grand is less than five years old and is a very plush venue originally built to host equestrian events. It is a covered arena that can seat over 5,000 people with a state-of-the-art P.A. audio system, wireless microphone system, and a four-sided scoreboard that has video screens. The arena's location and technological features should make it an attractive and popular facility to riders and fans.

The Industry Hills Events Center is located at 16000 Temple Avenue, just north of the 60 Freeway off the Azusa Avenue exit. Riders and fans seeking information can call (909) 681-4911 , (909) 323-8625, or (714) 952-8580.
Update (July 30, 2004)

We are pleased to announce that Bruce Flanders will be the live announcer. Beer, soda, and food will be sold. We don't yet know their prices. There will be a parking charge imposed by The Grand. Sweet International will not profit from this. It is part of doing business at a state or city facility. We are still attempting to negotiate the fee. RAZ is currently finishing our negotiations, so it's a little early to announce, but we expect all shows to be televised and webcast. We thank everyone who has called and sent e-mails in support of this new facility.

NOTE TO ALL COMPETITORS: MUFFLER RULES WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED! Please, noise will be an issue to continue racing at The Grand. Do your part. If the your muffler is blown out, please repair or replace it.
